What is the best way to pay off medical bills?

I owe about $8,000+ in medical bills and do not know what the best way to pay them off. It's been over a year and I have several different collection agencies trying to collect this debt. What is the best way to negotiate this debt? I am only 22 years old and live with my parents. My parents do not want to help pay this bill and just want me to avoid the collection agencies. Is there a way to consolidate my debt and work out a payment schedule? I have not contacted the collection agencies by phone but I want to pay this off because I do not want to accrue interest on this debt anymore! What is the best way to negotiate my medical bill?
