Is it possible that America can have a leader like King Leonidas I from the movie 300?

...or shall we be cursed with selfish, weak-minded politicans that only care about money, votes, and appeasing lobbyist and corporations? I love America, however, I feel as if our political leaders (from any party) lack the charisma, pion, and vision to be an effective leader. Am I wrong?
