Need to know for sure about cali king snakes?
I got a king snake from the pet store. did some research, watched a few videos on the web and now I'm confused and not sure. what one video or web page says is wrong is right in another video or page. 1 web page says 1 1/2-2 year old king snake about 2 feet long is good in 15 gallon tank another one says minimum size of a 30 gallon but no larger then a 60 gallon. its about 2 and a half feet long and i guess 2 years old and I have it in a 30 gallon tank and i just bought it yesterday. Is that a good size for it?....another thing. live mice can bite and cause disease and one website says it wont. what will it do if its gets bitten? One site says if the snake is having a problem shedding to mist the cage lightly or use damp paper towls or moss and another one says pick it up and give it a warm bath. I herd I shouldn't pick it up because the eyes are milky which causes it to go blind till its done shedding. I thought about that. What if I'm the only person that handles it and I went to pick it up would it attack? ummmm what else is there. I know to feed it in a separate cage. Would my pet store most likely be able to order pre-frozen dead rats or should I check with a vet for that? and will the snake stop growin because of the tank size like rats do or will they keep growing no matter what? just to know if I should be prepared for a larger tank any time soon. Other than all that I'm pretty sure I know what to do. oh yea and if anybody reads this and knows about them but is not sure if they should get one. so far I would recommend a king snake over a python, garter snake, and a corn snake unless you want something small.
